Editor, Manteca Bulletin,
Two Associated Press stories in the past week that appeared in the Manteca Bulletin continue to amplify the failure of the mainstream media to accurately and thoroughly report the news because of their politically correct bias. I’m specifically addressing the fact that newspapers and television media choose to cover up the ethnicity of perpetrators of criminal acts whenever they are African American.
In Tuesday’s paper there was an article regarding the Mob Attacks on Temple University students. In an article by a non-major news media outlet the father of one of the female student victims says her daughter told him she was attacked and beaten by 30 to 40 black teenagers. There is little doubt the flash mob teenage perpetrators were all African Americans up to no good in one of America’s dozens of inner cities.
Last week, the Bulletin had a detailed Associated Press article describing the horrific assault on three Phoenix police officers by a 44-year-old African-American man. As detailed as the description of the incident was, there was one very critical detail left out of the report — the ethnicity of the perpetrator. While it did mention prior deadly attacks on police officers in Baton Rouge and Dallas, it again failed to mention those attacks were also carried out by African American men.
In this age of political correctness, it seems the only time the ethnicities of the involved parties in a police encounter are identified is when the policeman is white and the perpetrator (i.e. victim) is black. Isn’t that what has spawned the Black Lives Matter movement and recent “protests” of police oppression by NFL athletes led by Turlock’s own Colin Kaepernick?
In my opinion, these so-called protest movements are exactly what are spurring on hate filled young African American men to attack and kill police indiscriminately. Witness such chants as “ What do we want, Dead cops, When do we want it, Now” and “ Pigs in a blanket, fry ‘em like bacon.” This has got to stop!
We have a very serious problem in Chicago, Philly, St. Louis, L.A., Memphis, Detroit, Milwaukee, etc. with crime emanating predominantly from the African American Communities. The root cause is the fact that 7 out of 10 black children grow up in the absence of a father figure.
Failure to acknowledge or report on the African American problem in our cities is rampant. When is the mainstream media going to start doing their job of informing the public with all the available facts without the politically correct filters?
The media’s biased reporting, resulting from an overdose of political correctness, is a major contributing factor to the growing divide between police officers that keep our communities safe and young black men in the inner cities across America.
A perfect example was the misreporting of the false “hands up, don’t shoot” narrative spread across our nation’s mainstream media before the true facts came out about Officer Wilson’s shooting of Michael Brown.
