Ripon bond bad for pocketbooks & students
letter to editor

Editor, Manteca Bulletin,

I wanted to voice my opposition to Ripon Unified School District’s Measure I (the $38.5 million school bond).

It should be obvious by now how burdened we are as Californians with taxes after taxes after taxes. It is the state’s responsibility to spend that money wisely not tell school districts “no.” It shouldn’t be the taxpayers’ responsibility to constantly bail the state out due to their horrible spending habits. Nobody is denying there isn’t a need for repairs, but our kids will be paying for this one school bond until the graduating class of 2059. That is ridiculous.

That isn’t counting the 7 others that are already on our property tax bill. Bonds are bad for our pocket books, bad for our schools, and really bad for our students.
