Editor, Manteca Bulletin,
This past week I received my property tax bill in the mail. I opened it up and was floored to see that we are already paying on seven school bonds. Now, Ripon Unified wants us to pay for another one that will equal out to $88 million dollars but only $38.5 million of that will be going to the schools. The rest leaves our awesome little town and won’t ever be seen again.
As much as I support all of our local schools, I must vote no on Measure I. Until we can pay off previous bonds and fix a system that is obviously broken I can’t vote for another bond for the sake of my own children. We already pay taxes for our schools and now on top of that we are being bombarded with horrible debt. I’m left to wonder how many school bonds we will be voting on before this one would even be paid off, which amazingly won’t be until 2059.
The kids that graduate from high school that year won’t even be born until around 2041. Think about that.
Vote no on Measure I,
John Heida
