Show youth police are people

Editor, Manteca Bulletin,

With all of the terrible attacks going on around our country against our police officers, I would like again to suggest that in our town, they walk the neighborhoods — I cannot think of an easier and less expensive way of connecting people with them.

It would not have to be every day or all neighborhoods, but we need to reach out to our young and show them that police are people just like dad and mom or aunt and uncle and want to get to know each other.  Hopefully, this will allow our neighborhoods to accept police as ‘people like us,’ which they are.

I had an aunt in the Richmond (Calif.) Police Department and I have a nephew in the Roseville Police Department.  Both are wonderful people who served and serve for the betterment of their communities.
