Sign, sign everywhere a sign in Manteca

Sign, sign, everywhere a sign blocking out the scenery

Breaking my mind…do this, don’t do that.

“Can’t You Read the Sign”, that was the popular song that came out and made famous by the “Five Man Electrical Band” in May of 1975. And now some 40 years later, city staff, code enforcement and our “good ole” council is singing the same song concerning A -frame signs in front of businesses downtown and students waving signs on street corners. Perhaps the students are making a few bucks for school supplies. The council doesn’t know how to solve this problem.

What about all the election signs that are plastered all around town? But then of course this is a different issue, since most signs contain the names of some people running for office. The simple solution to this problem would be to hire a consultant, since the city is famous for hiring consultants to do something that they themselves should do, could do, but don’t do. I am sure that some consultant would come in for $70,000 or $80,000 could find a solution concerning the sign issue. Perhaps the “Five Man Electrical Band” could make a visit to the city and solve this problem. Hire a consultant, after all he will know what to do.
