Supervisor Ornellas thankful for opportunity to serve

Editor, Manteca Bulletin,

As I complete my final year on the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors I want to thank the residents of the 5th Supervisorial District and of the entire County. It has been an honor and privilege to represent you these last ten years.

I have witnessed and been part of the County’s economic highs and lows, I have represented San Joaquin County and Chaired the San Joaquin Valley Air District during its most tumultuous period when we had it take the Valley from severe to extreme air quality designation. I was appointed by the Governor to the Partnership for the San Joaquin Valley and made a co-convener of the challenging Water committee. I had the privilege to serve as Board Chairman twice as well as on the Council of Governments, LAFCo, Co-chair for the County Jail Expansion and other committees.

These past ten years have been my personal Masters and PhD experience. I leave proud of my public service and standing up for what I believe in, even when it wasn’t popular to do so. I look forward to life’s next challenges as well as opportunities and spending more time under palm trees with my feet in the sand and with an adult beverage in each hand.

The residents of San Joaquin County owe me nothing, I owe you everything.

Thank you,

Leroy Ornellas
