Give Every Child A Chance was honored to have been chosen by the ‘Heroes’ of Manteca as the recipients of their latest fundraiser, Tip a Hero. On Wednesday, men and women from the Police and Fire Departments joined together to sponsor a fundraiser Las Casuelas hosted.

The annual Tip a Hero event was more successful than we dared to dream. Thanks to the efforts of the Heroes of Manteca, Las Casuelas staff and management, and this wonderful community, Manteca’s Heroes raised $1,733.08 to Give Every Child A Chance. The generosity of the community in these hard times is overwhelming and we are so appreciative. One hundred percent of these dollars will go directly to purchase school supplies for the after school mentor/tutoring programs.

The event began at 11 a.m. with the lunch crowd and ended at 9 p.m. with the dinner crowd. It proved to be a day of fantastic food, unbelievable service and incredible fun; all provided by Manteca’s Hero’s (under the guidance of the waiters and waitresses on Las Casuelas staff who were also wonderful and supportive of this event.)

The participating Heroes; as well as the working waiters and waitresses were amazing. They took our orders efficiently and with huge smiles. They made sure we received our beverages quickly and when the meals were ready it was not uncommon to have as many as two heros deliver the food. They flirted, listened and simply gave the impression they were having a wonderful time serving us. Of course, the waiters and waitresses on Las Casuelas staff were similarly as wonderful and supportive of this event.

In appreciation of the good time they experienced at Las Casuelas, customers very generously made a donation to the Heroes at the door.

On behalf of the Board of Directors of “Give Every Child A Chance” and all the children who will benefit from this contribution to our program, I want to thank the Captain Charlie Goekin for organizing this event, and arranging this tremendous fundraiser, and Claudia Ramirez, owner of Las Casuelas, as well as the waiters and waitresses at Las Casuelas for their generous contribution to our program.
