Treats for Troops appreciates community support

Editor, Manteca Bulletin,

We wish to publicly thank Give Every Child a Chance Director of Community Outreach Chuck Crutchfield for spearheading a recent drive to collect goodies for our local “Treats for our Troops” program.

In an earlier column of the Manteca Bulletin, GECAC tutoring bus was pictured with military clothed personnel; this bus was filled with goodies and delivered by Chuck Crutchfield and Oscar Munguia on Dec. 21 to the local “Treats for our Troops” committee.  Boxes were packed that night and mailed the following day.  The boxes sending Happy New Year -- Peace on Earth greetings should have arrived in the Middle East by Jan. 5.

GECAC classes have begun making and writing their own Valentine’s messages to be enclosed with the January mailing for Valentine’s Day arrival.  We are so excited that the school children want to be a part of this project.

A special thanks to the cookie bakers: Camellia Gardens Bible Study group, Sally Williams, Judy Vasquez and Marion Thibodeau for supporting the troops year-round with home-baked cookies.  In addition, we would also like to thank our principal financial donors –Raymus Foundation, the HOGS Poker Run in September and all the generous individuals in our Manteca, Ripon, and Lathrop communities. All donations are acknowledged upon receipt with a note of thanks.  You are all dear to our hearts.  We are only able to continue mailings with your generous contributions.

Remember us: Soroptimist Club committee for “Treats for our Troops”.
