We owe a lot to our paratroopers

“American parachutists - devils in baggy pants - are less than 100 meters from my outpost line.  I can’t sleep at night; they pop up from nowhere and we never know where or how they strike next.  Seems like the black-hearted devils are everywhere...”  Found in the diary of a German officer who opposed the 504th (82nd Airborne Division) at Anzio.

Excerpted from “Those Devils In Baggy Pants” by Ross S. Carter, copyright 1951.

“Where is the prince who can afford so to cover his country with troops for its defense, as that ten thousand men descending from the clouds, might not, in many places, do an infinite amount of mischief before a force could be brought together to repel them?”  Benjamin Franklin, 1784.

It is well documented that the German army, which wreaked havoc on Europe, feared only the following: 1.) The French Underground.  2.) General George S. Patton. 3.) US Army Paratroopers.  The television series “Band of Brothers” is probably the best dramatization ever produced which covers the action of an Airborne Division from training through the European campaign to VE Day.  I believe it to be the best war movie ever with the possible exception of “Saving Private Ryan”.  Giving full recognition to “All Quiet On The Western Front” (1930) as being quite possibly the best anti-war movie of all time (Based on the novel by Erich Maria Remarque).  They all show war in its unvarnished cruelty.  It is impossible to depict war accurately without being anti-war.  Sherman said it best: “War is all hell.”  Yet there is an enemy afoot today which makes the murderous German Army look quite reasonable, it is the global corporate dictators which have inundated Europe with a horde of Islamic foreign workers and are in the process of doing the same to the United States of America.  By not securing our borders, we have no idea what manner of Islamic terrorists are waltzing in disguised among the illegal Mexicans and other illegal Latins.

Our American Paratroopers today are STRAC-Skilled Tough Ready Around the Clock.  In a battle for survival, you want the toughest fighters available: Delta Force, Marines, Paratroopers.  There are, of course others, which shall go unnamed because, as we all know, the element of surprise is the most valuable weapon.
Happy Memorial Day.
