Why does God or other deity get a pass from causing so many abortions in USA?
letter to editor

Editor, Manteca Bulletin,

I would like to respond to L.B. Bozell’s opinion piece on abortion with a few scientific facts. No B.S., just facts.

We all know what an abortion is. It is a cessation of pregnancy by human interference.  A miscarriage is a cessation of pregnancy by God or nature or whatever you believe in.  Annually in the U.S. about one in every 4.4 pregnancies will end in a miscarriage.  Google this if you don’t believe it.  Recent research indicates that as many as half or possibly even more pregnancies end in miscarriages.  Many pregnancies miscarry in the first 12 weeks and the pregnant woman doesn’t even realize she has had a miscarriage. Sources estimate that as many as — or more than 50% — of pregnancies end in miscarriage. That makes God, or nature, or whatever source you prefer to believe in to be the cause of such huge numbers of miscarriages or “natural abortions.”  Therefore God, nature, Allah, or Zoroaster, or Thor, or whatever other name your creator goes by, to be the biggest abortionist on earth and possibly the entire universe.  Humanity plays a small role compared to the creator.

I will patiently await any explanation of how it is that God, or any other deity, gets a pass when he/she/it/ aborts a fetus, and humans are vilified for the very same behavior. I know that this is going to challenge the thinking of some who have never thought of it this way.  I welcome the logic of those who want to attempt to explain this away.
