Many people have been asking me about my thoughts on the school board candidates. At first I didn’t give an opinion because I hadn’t had a chance to hear from all three of them. Now that I have, here are my thoughts.

Two of the candidates are parents. This is very important to me. I strongly feel that as a parent, you have a different perspective on the issues you are governing as they directly affect you and your family. These two ladies are both very dedicated and it was a bit of a struggle to choose between them but I can only choose one and I choose Sharla Moore. I think it’s important for school board members to be active and participate in our schools’ activities. She is already very involved in the classrooms of her children’s schools; she is president of the Parent Club, and an active Booster member. It’s very clear to me that she is a go getter. I strongly encourage all of you to join me in support of Sharla Moore.

I also feel it is important to give my opinion on the third candidate. He is not a parent. He is not involved with any of our schools in any way. I know this for a fact because it was a question at a candidates’ forum that I attended. I have been involved with Manteca Unified for a very long time and I have never seen or heard of him….ever. I have to ask myself, “Why would someone who has never been involved with our great school district want to govern it?”
