A 23-year-old male was struck in his hip during a drive-by shooting as he was walking in the 500 block of West Alameda Street Thursday at 2:38 p.m.

Manteca Police indicated the victim was transported to an area hospital and is in stable condition.

The victim said he was walking in front of the Boys & Girls Club when a vehicle drove past and he was shot at. No vehicle or suspect description was provided.  

The Boys and Girls Club was not open at the time of the shooting and there were no other reported injuries.

Manteca Police is still trying to determine a motive for the shooting. Officers are following up by obtaining witness statements and attempting to locate any video surveillance.
