Big 6th inning keys Indians win in Northgate juniors

The Indians took advantage of five walks, a hit batter and an error in the sixth inning for six runs Saturday on the way to a 13-6 win over the Phillies in Northgate Little League juniors action at Morenzone Field.

Jack Cunial had the lone hit of the sixth for the Indians that saw Cunial (RBI, double, two runs), Ivan Vieira (three runs), Jacob Toste, Lance Tremor (2 for 2, three RBI, two runs), Tyler Toste (RBI, double, two runs)  and Ryan Torres score.

In the fifth, Toste doubled in Vieira and Tremor singled in Toste. Tremor came in on a fielder’s choice off the bat of Ryan Vanarsdell. Tremor had a two-run single in the third to plate Vieira and Cunial and in the first inning Jacob toste drew a bases-loaded walk, scoring Nolan Calmes. Dylan Lee knocked in Luke Abrew with a single in the fourth.

The Phillies scored three runs in the first and three in the second. Evan Jeffery (3 for 3, two RBI, home run, two runs) had a two-run home run in the first to score Chaz Cormier and Tyler Looney (two runs) scored on an RBI double by Ethan Rief (2 for 2, two RBI, double).

In the Phillies second, Damien Gonzalez laced a two-run triple plating Jeffery and Looney and Rief singled, scoring Gonzalez.

Manteca Little League Majors

Nationals 5, Reds 1

Zakery Willson was on the hill for three shut-out innings for the Nationals, striking out seven and allowing no hits on Wednesday. 

Renzo Garcia, Dylan Stonum, Isaac Acuna, Jesse Bella and Vincent Torres each collected one hit for the Nationals and Preston Smith drew a first-inning walk scoring the game’s first run.

Landon Espinola threw two innings of relief for the Reds.
