COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) — Down by 20 points in the second half, No. 5 Maryland turned to Alyssa Thomas to pull the team out of a seemingly insurmountable hole.

The unflappable sophomore forward came through with a brilliant performance that helped the unbeaten Terrapins stay that way.

Thomas scored 18 of her 24 points over the final 18 minutes, including a three-point play with 17 seconds left that carried the Terrapins past Georgia Tech 77-74 Friday night.

No. 7 Duke 76, Wake Forest 58

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) — Wake Forest spent a week in practice preparing for No. 7 Duke’s inside game. Still, the Demon Deacons couldn’t stop the Blue Devils’ Elizabeth Williams from a record-setting night.

Duke’s freshman center had 18 points, 16 rebounds and a conference-record 12 blocks for her first triple-double to lead the Blue Devils to a 76-58 victory over Wake Forest on Friday night.

Haley Peters scored 12 points and Richa Jackson added 11 as Duke (11-2, 2-0 ACC) won its fifth straight and beat the Demon Deacons for the 36th consecutive time.
