No. 14 California tops San Jose St.; Range scores 16

BERKELEY (AP) — Brittany Boyd had 11 points, 12 assists and 13 rebounds, recording her second career triple-double as No. 14 California coasted by San Jose State 110-87 in the Cal Classic on Friday night.

Gabby Green added 17 points, 12 boards and seven assists for the Golden Bears (5-0). Reshanda Gray led Cal with 21 points, Mikayla Cowling had 18 and former Manteca High standout Courtney Range chipped in 16 with nine rebounds.

Cal shot 56.8 percent from the field and had 34 assists on 46 field goals. They also out-rebounded San Jose State 58-44.

Jasmine Smith led the Spartans (2-3) with 19 points, Ta’Rea Cinnigan had 14 and Ali Bettencourt 12. San Jose State was limited to 31-of-91 shooting.

Boyd’s other triple-double came in a 75-68 overtime win over Washington State last season. She becomes just the second player in Pac-12 history to record more than one in a career.
