SAN JOSE (AP) — Luke Persico doubled and singled twice, and Parker Dunshee tossed five scoreless innings as the Stockton Ports defeated the San Jose Giants 4-1 on Thursday.
Dunshee (1-0) allowed one hit while striking out four and walking one to pick up the win.
Stockton got on the board first in the third inning when Greg Deichmann hit a two-run double and then scored on a double by Jonah Heim.
After Stockton added a run in the fifth when Kevin Merrell scored on a ground out, the Giants cut into the deficit in the sixth inning when Jacob Heyward scored on an error.
Caleb Baragar (0-1) went four innings, allowing three runs and four hits in the California League game. He also struck out two and walked two. Miguel Romero pitched two scoreless innings for his third save of the season.
Stockton hit a season-high five doubles in its victory.
