OAKDALE – Ashley Espericueta picked up her first shutout of the season as the East Union frosh-soph soccer team knocked off Oakdale 1-0 Thursday on the Mustangs’ pitch.
Jagjeet Dhillon scored the game’s only goal off a Stephanee Sabala shot that glanced off the post.
Bianca Wesley, Shanae Haroldson, Karen Vera and Adriana Alvarenga were impressive on the defensive end.
In Ceres, Kenisha Gathron scored both goals for the victorious Timberwolves.
Taylor Ozegovich (3 K’s) picked up the win after three innings on the mound, and Cory Van Warmerdam closed it out with four strikeouts.
C.J. Rivas picked up a pair of RBIs at the dish and Michael Timmins (2B, BB, 2 SB, SF, RBI) was outstanding in centerfield.
Manteca (2-0 Valley Oak League, 8-5 overall) travels to Central Valley Tuesday.
Daniel Miramontes was brilliant in the win, tossing four innings of three-hit ball with four strikeouts and no runs allowed, while going 4 for 4 with two doubles, a homerun, three runs scored and seven RBIs.
