Aquino, Stangs gallop past EU

Austin Miller’s big night wasn’t enough for East Union to overcome mighty Oakdale.

Miller had 14 receptions for 165 yards as well as a 47-yard interception return for a touchdown, but the Lancers had no answer for Oakdale running back Brad Aquino in a 40-14 defeat Friday at Dino Cunial Field.

Aquino scored Oakdale’s first four touchdowns and ended up with 150 yards on 22 rushes. Miller’s pick-six gave the Lancers (0-4, 3-4) life early on as it tied it at 7-all with 2:03 left in the opening quarter.

The still-unbeaten Mustangs (4-0, 7-0) countered with a 33 unanswered points over the next two quarters, a flurry capped by Austin Burke’s 38-yard scamper.

Jack Weaver found Marcus Panelo for a 13-yard pass and East Union’s only touchdown on offense. Weaver completed 21 of 30 passes for 232 yards and was also the Lancers’ leading rusher with 19 yards.

East Union will look to snap its four-game losing next week at Kimball.
