Buff freshmen dominate Sierra in VOL contest

Manteca and Sierra exchanged touchdowns to start the game Thursday but that was all the Timberwolves could muster in a 32-7 win for the Buffaloes in Valley Oak League freshman football action at Daniel Teicheira Memorial Stadium.

 Corey Franklin and Dominic Alvarez split the load for Manteca with Franklin (11 carries, 104 yards) scoring on runs of 5 and 27 yards and Alvarez (five carries, 92 yards) had a 7-yard touchdown run to start the fourth quarter and end the scoring for the day. Dylan DePrater (2 for 3 passing, 48 yards) hit Khalid Robinson with a 21-yard touchdown pass.

 Franklin and Alvarez made eight tackles apiece, Zach Todd added seven stops and Robinson recovered a fumble.

 Ryan Torres pulled in a 10-yard touchdown pass from Luke Abrew for the lone Timberwolves score. Jeontay Berry gained 92 yards on 12 carries and Nikko Nunez added 71 yards on 20 carries.

 Ben Wheeler made six tackles for Sierra.

 

Western Athletic Conference

Los Banos 35, Lathrop 20

 With only 15 players in uniform, the Spartans gave up 21 points in the last 6 minutes in the heartbreaking loss.

 Lathrop’s Luis Hernandez  (10 of 20 passing, 195 yards) had a touchdown throw of 50 yards to Jason Seabron (four catches, 95 yards) and one of 21 yards to Amario Valdovions (three catches, 42 yards). Christopher Ray (16 carries, 105 yards) tallied a 4-yard touchdown run and Noah Martinez had 58 yards on three catches and 25 yards on two carries. 

 Amario Valdovinos led the Spartans with five tackles and a 47-yard interception return. Seabron (six tackles) and Allan Oseguera (five tackles) each had a forced fumble. Jaden Prieto (fumble recovery) Noah Martinez and Aaron Ramones had five tackles each. 

 

Non-league

East Union 13, Ripon 6

 Marcus Brennan scored both Lancers touchdowns, including one from 5 yards out in the fourth quarter to break a 6-6 tie. 

 Brennan (22 carries, 112 yards) had a 1-yard scoring plunge in the first quarter. Luke Weaver posted a pass completion of 45 yards to Gustavo Delagadillo.

Payton Graham led the East Union defense with 10 tackles followed by Jaime Ornales and Gannon Anderson with six tackles each and Luke Weaver and Zane Salgado with five apiece.
