Buffaloes blast E-House in season opener

The Manteca Buffaloes sophomore team was able to open the 2012 season in grand fashion, jumping to an early lead and cruising to a 41-8 blowout of Edison High in both teams’ season opener in Stockton.

The Buffaloes got touchdowns from Lechi Nkwotcha, Hector Soto Andrew Gardner, Nick Lucchetti and Edward Gomez. The Buffaloes praised the play of starting quarterback Dominick Pisano who kept things in control and tossed a touchdown.

“Today we played extremely well,” Manteca head coach Sean Hogan said. “Especially for the first test of the season. Dom did an amazing job running the offense while spreading the wealth to a host of receivers.”

The Buffaloes will look to make it back-to-back victories when they host the Los Banos Tigers in the Buffaloes’ home-opener.

Sierra 27, Grace Davis 6

The Timberwolves offense was led by Jared Sileira’s two touchdown passes as they handled the visiting Grace Davis sophomore team with ease Friday.

Sileira hooked up with playmaker Hunter Johnson and also found Devin Nunez for a score. JoJo Macias made major contributions on the ground, breaking loose for a pair of big runs.

“Our offensive line improved a great deal from week one,” Sierra head coach Dan Dukes said.

Orestimba 14, East Union 12

The Lancers were right with Orestimba for the majority of the contest, but could not convert on both PAT and suffering a two-point loss to Orestimba Friday.

East Union (0-2) got dominant performances from Taariq Davis and Cody Kenner, both of whom scores touchdowns in the loss.

Davis tossed for 110 yards on four completions and also added a 25-yard touchdown run to go along with a touchdown pass. Kenner hauled in three passes for 98 yards and a score.

The Lancers surrendered just 208 yards of total offense and the two scores.
