Manteca showed no ill effects from a short week and its second loss of the season in Friday’s 55-7 clobbering of Kimball at Don Nicholson Stadium in Tracy.

The Buffaloes (2-2 Valley Oak League, 5-2 overall) were fresh off Saturday’s 42-21 defeat to previously-undefeated Oakdale at Levi’s Stadium.

Quarterback Dakarai Charles helped Manteca establish a 42-0 halftime cushion. He was the team’s leading rusher with 85 yards and a touchdown and also threw for 115 yards and two scores, one a 26-yard toss to Ronaldo Tijero.

The Manteca defense even factored into the scoring, as Carl Chandler caused a fumble while sacking the Kimball QB and Javaun Dunn scooped it up and returned it 28 yards to the end zone.

Manteca will look to keep rolling next Friday when it plays host to Weston Ranch.

Southern League

Gustine 23,
 Ripon Christian 7

Sebastian Figueroa accounted for two touchdowns – one on the ground, one through the air – as Gustine handed Ripon Christian its second Southern League loss.

Billy Marr (8-16, 132 yards) connected with Ethan McMurray on a 53-yard touchdown in the third quarter to make it 7-all, but the Redskins would answer with a 78-yard scoring run by Figueroa and a safety to improve to 3-1, 6-1 overall.

Ripon Christian is now 2-2, 5-2 overall.
