Manteca JV manhandles Sierra High

Aidan Nicolas tallied three long touchdown runs for Manteca on Friday in a 54-0 thumping of Sierra in Valley Oak League junior varsity action at Guss Schmiedt Field. 

Nicolas (six carries, 149 yards) scored on runs of 30, 40 and 62 yards. Victor Martinez (three carries, 62 yards) had a 56-yard touchdown run and Calvin Ramsey scored on his only run of 59 yards. 

 Alejandro Tornero had a 33-yard touchdown run and Malik Nov (two tackles) capped the night’s scoring with a 65-yard interception return for a touchdown. 

 Jose Rios made five tackles for the Buffaloes. Dominic Favalaro added four tackles and three passes defended and Jerry Walser had four tackles. 

 The win guarantees Manteca at least a portion of the VOL title with Oakdale behind by one game with one left to play. The Buffaloes travel to East Union on Friday.


Weston Ranch 25, East Union 12

 Rogelio Ruvalcava threw for three touchdowns and ran for one for the Cougars.

 Ruvalcava was 16 of 21 passing for 164 yards with a touchdown pass apiece to Aaron Jaimes (five catches, 88 yards), Fidel Pitts (six catches, 51 yards) and Nacho Gonzalez. 

 Lane Cefalu had a 14-yard touchdown run for the Lancers and teammate Tyler Diaz stripped the ball on a sack and returned it for a touchdown.

 Cefalu had 10 carries for 51 yards and Zelmar Vedder snagged a reception.

Southern League

Ripon Christian 28 Le Grand 7

 Will Gilbert threw two touchdown passes for the Knights who will put their undefeated season on the line when they face off with visiting Delhi on Friday.

 Gilbert was 8 of 15 passing for 126 yards with two interception and a touchdown throw to Lukas Van Groningen (three catches, 64 yards) and one to Caleb Terpsma (two catches, 37 yards). Jake Grondz (18 carries, 136 yards) scored a rushing touchdown and Van Groningen returned a kickoff 50 yards for a touchdown.

 Travis De Shields led Ripon Christian with 12 tackles followed by Nick Ochoa (eight tackles) and Jadon Booth (six). Micah De Jong had an interception.

Stone Ridge Christian 63, Delta Charter 7

 MERCED – Kea’sean Johnson hit Isaiah Camacho with a 9-yard scoring pass for the Dragons’ lone score.

 Jesse Serpa led Delta Charter (with 59 yards passing on one completion to Camacho (two completions, 59 yards) 

 Jathen Cain made seven tackles for the Dragons (0-6 CCAA, 0-10 overall). Johnson added five stops and Marcus Rodea and Josh Marseline had four tackles apiece
