Three Johansen-Modesto turnovers and a long East Union punt return helped the Lancers to three first-quarter touchdowns on the way to a 60-8 shellacking of the host Vikings in non-league sophomore action on Friday.

Mason James (nine carries, 151 yards) had touchdown runs of 6, 5, 23 and 31 yards for East Union. Tony Martinez’s 47-yard punt return set up James’ 6-yard scoring run and a 35-yard interception return by Matthew Pilkay set up an 18-yard scoring run by Jesse Anzar. The Lancers did not throw a pass and had 53 carries for 394 yards.

Anzar (three carries, 84 yards) added a 25-yard touchdown run in the second quarter with Devonta Scott (three carries, 68 yards) scoring from 3 yards out in the third period and on a 65-yard run in the fourth. 

Alex Kukor and Cruz Padilla had eight tackles apiece for East Union. Ryan Austin had six stops and Raymond Brooks and Scott four apiece.  were two-way standouts for the Lancers.

 

Manteca 46, 

Enochs-Modesto 6

Kyle Rachels threw five touchdowns for the Buffaloes in the first half of the non-league road game – four of which went to Presley Keltner. 

Rachels (10 of 14 passing, 201 yards) found Keltner with scoring throws of 11, 13, 19 and 48 yards and connected with Ben Rae for a 29-yard touchdown pass.  

Issac Maldonado and Matt Ender had six tackles each for Manteca and Keltner had an interception.

 

Lodi 28, Sierra 14

Damon Duran scored two touchdowns for the Timberwolves in non-league action at Daniel Teicheira Memorial Stadium. 

Johnny Hosner and J.P. Peterson played well on defense for Sierra. 

 

Ripon 35, Lathrop 0

No details were provided at press time for the non-league contest at Stouffer Field.
