East Union leaves Bruins in ruins after JV encounter

STOCKTON – The East Union junior varsity posted six first-half touchdowns Friday on the way to a 48-0 non-league road win over Bear Creek Bruins at Podesto Field.

 Luke Weaver (6 of 7 passing, 178 yards, three touchdowns) directed the relentless high-octane Lancers offense in the first half, completing a 35-yard touchdown pass to Adam Tinnerello (three receptions, 93 yards, two touchdowns) in the first quarter to start the scoring and adding two more in the second quarter – one to Bryan Howe of 34 yards and another one to Tinnerello of 30 yards. 

 Also in the first half, Kai Ontai (five carries, 144 yards) scored on a 43-yard run, Marcus Brennan had a 6-yard touchdown run and Johntae Maggard (three carries, 54 yards) added a 1-yard scoring plunge in the closing seconds of the second period to make the score 41-0. 

 Gannon Anderson pulled in a 10-yard scoring pass from Mitch Lill (3 for 4 passing, 41 yards) late in the third quarter for the only points of the second half. Payton Graham added 52 yards on nine carries and he made four tackles. 

 Marco Guevara’s fumble recovery with 8:55 left in the first quarter set up Weaver’s first touchdown throw.

 

Manteca 46, Granada 7

 LIVERMORE – The host Matadors may have scored first, but they were no match for the pounding Buffaloes ground game that churned out 376 yards.

 Manteca’s Khalid Robinson (12 carries, 157 yards) and Alijah Cota (nine carries, 126 yards) each scored a pair of touchdowns. Cota scored on runs of 9 and 29 yards and Robinson added a 9-yard touchdown run and returned an interception 40 yards for a score. 

 Dominic Alvarez (six carries, 80 yards) scored on a 2-yard run and Jesse Lopez rounded out the scoring for the Buffaloes with a 1-yard plunge in the fourth quarter.

 Alvarez did some damage on defense as well, forcing three fumbles, recovering one and making four tackles. Robinson snagged two interceptions and made two tackles and Cole Ramsey had five tackles. 

 

Sierra 21, Pacheco 0

 LOS BANOS – Marcelo Morales ground out a 100-yard day for the Timberwolves. 

 Morales (12 carries, 102 yards) scored on a 32-yard run. Nikko Nunez (15 carries, 56 yards) added a 5-yard scoring run and Ryan Torres (nine carries, 40 yards) scored from 12 yards out.

 Ben Wheeler led the Sierra defense with eight tackles. Josh Martinez added seven stops and Mathias Curry six. 

 

Ripon 22, Central Valley 22

 CERES – The Hawks converted a two-point conversion in the final period and kept the Indians off the board in the fourth quarter to snag the tie at Ceres High School.  

 Ripon had three players score. Jack Manning (21 carries, 102 yards) had a 50-yard touchdown run, Andre Toledo (seven carries, 23 yards) ran in a score from 6 yards out and Brandon Molthen (two receptions, 30 yards) pulled in a 10-yard touchdown pass from Dylan De Graff (3 of 9 passing, 40 yards).

 Ethan Day made nine tackles for the Indians and forced a fumble and Manning added five stops.
