After matching intensity through the first quarter, East Union simply could not keep pace with host Orestimba High, falling to the Warriors 31-13 Friday in Newman.

Orestimba (2-0) followed up a season-opening win over Galt with another strong showing against the Lancers. The Warriors were able to establish control with a 17-pont second quarter and cemented their grip with lockdown defense the rest of the contest. East Union pushed across its final score in the fourth quarter.

Issues stopping the ground-game frustrated the Lancers (0-2) for the second consecutive week, surrendering 376 yards of rushing to the Warriors. Coupled with Orestimba’s 177 yards through the air, East Union has given up in excess of 500 yards the first two games.

Mark Aguilar racked up 140 yards of total offense and a touchdown reception, while Jack Zeller hauled in five passes for 70 yards and a score.

Lucas Garcia got the bulk of the reps for the Lancers at quarterback, going 18-for-22 for 177 yards.

The Lancers will try and break into the win column Sept. 14 when they travel to Salida to take on the Modesto Christian Crusaders.
