EU frosh dominate Bear Creek

Eight different East Union players scored Thursday in a 59-6 thumping of Bear Creek in non-league freshman football action at Dino Cunial Field.

Marcus Brennan (three carries, 28 yards) and Luke Weaver (4 of 8 passing, 76 yards) were the lone Lancers to score twice – Brennan  on 2- and 25-yard runs and Weaver on a pass of 9 yards to Bryan Howe and a run of 19 yards. Damari Cox returned a punt 25 yards for a touchdown and all the other East Union scores came on runs: Gustavo Delgadillo of 10 yards, Turon McQuarters (2 yards), Ryan Vanarsdell (23 yards) and Payton Graham (17 yards). Adam Tinnerello pulled in a 42-yard catch for the Lancers.

 Graham led a very stingy East Union defense that allowed negative-28 yards with nine tackles. Delgadillo and Zane Salgado added four stops each and Mateo Guevara, Alfredo Ramirez and Eric Barojas made three tackles each. Daymari Cox blocked a punt, Robert Piddock intercepted a pass and Xavier Mendez recovered a fumble.

 

Manteca 48, Granada of Livermore 0

 Cory Franklin and Khalid Robinson each scored a pair of touchdowns for the Buffaloes at Guss Schmiedt Field. 

 Franklin (eight carries, 129 yards) had scoring runs of 2 and 85 yards while Robinson (eight carries, 127 yards) scampered 13 and 48 yards for touchdowns. Miles Lerma scored on a 24-yard touchdown run, Zach Todd returned an interception 15 yards for a touchdown and Joel Yuson was 3 for 4 passing for 40 yards. 

 Yuson led the Manteca defense with six tackles. Jose Rios added five tackles, Cory Franklin four and Franklin blocked a punt that was returned to the Granada 13-yard line by Robinson.

 

Sierra 42 Pacheco 14

LOS BANOS – Marcelo Morales ran for three touchdowns and caught another for the Timberwolves.

Morales (nine carries, 208 yards, three touchdowns; three receptions, 110 yards, touchdown) ran in scores from 4, 40 and 70 yards out and pulled in an 88 yard touchdown pass from Luke Abrew.

 Sierra had two other touchdowns on a 14-yard run from Jeontay Berry (seven carries, 51 yards)  and a 2-yard plunge by Nikko Nunez (10 carries 43 yards).

 Ben Wheeler made eight tackles for the Timberwolves and Ryan Torres added five stops.
