Brady Grondz made the most of his four carries on Friday, running for 210 yards and three touchdowns in Ripon Christian’s 56-14 road romp at Le Grand.
The senior flyback scored on runs covering 45, 90 and 70 yards in the first half. Grant Sonke added 141 yards and three touchdowns on seven carries. His 87-yard scamper gave the Southern Athletic League-leading Knights (4-0, 6-1 overall) an early 14-0 lead.
Trevor Van Elderen added five carries for 61 yards. Ripon Christian totaled 487 yards on the ground, while sophomore quarterback Mason Tameling connected on three of his five passes for 60 yards. The Knights opened scoring with a 30-yard pass play to Ethan Schenk with 10:41 left in the first period.
Preston Zuidervaart capped scoring with 2:56 to go in the third quarter. He also led the defense with 12 tackles, two for losses, a sack, a fumble recovery and a pass deflection.
Le Grand (2-2, 5-2) has a sophomore QB of its own in Diego Martinez, who was 11-of-19 passing for 216 yards and two touchdowns to Miguel Moreno. Martinez also scored on a 6-yard run. The Bulldogs were limited to just 24 passing yards in the second half.
Safety Amos Cady contributed nine tackles and an interception for the Ripon Christian defense. Sonke turned in seven tackles, three for losses.
