JV Buffs bounce back against Gregori

Manteca’s junior varsity squad bounced back from its first loss of the season with a 26-14 non-league win at Gregori last Thursday.

Kayden MacDannald totaled 175 yards from scrimmage to lead the way. His 5-yard touchdown in the third quarter gave Manteca (4-1) the two-score cushion. He finished with 89 rushing yards on 16 attempts along with two catches for 86 yards.

Four different Buffaloes scored touchdowns, including Jacob Hernandez who rushed 11 times for 76 yards. Quarterback Marco Ramos had a 21-yard touchdown run. He also completed 4 of 7 passes for 91 yards and an interception.

Landon Chamberlain added 50 rushing yards on five touches, while Luis Rivera scored on a 4-yard scamper.

Arik Vivians and Rivera were each in on a team-high seven tackles for the defense. They each also had a tackle for loss. Ramos had four solo stops, and Daniel Bernal contributed three and a pass defended.

 

Oakdale 50, East Union 26

Carson Sanders accumulated 236 yards on 15-of-21 passing, but it wasn’t enough for the Lancers (3-2) to keep up at The Corral last Friday. He had a hand in two touchdowns, connecting with Oriann Germann (four receptions, 81 yards) for a 54-yarder in the second quarter and scoring one of his own with a 1-yard run.

Tony Agueda’s 1-yard TD in the third quarter closed East Union in 30-20, but the Mustangs answered with two unanswered scores to break it open. Joaquin Delgado capped scoring for the Lancers with a 75-yard kickoff return.

Joaquin Delgado was Sanders’ top receiver with 86 yards on five catches.

 

Freshman

East Union 8, Oakdale 0

The defenses took turns making big plays at Dino Cunial Field last Thursday.

East Union’s lone touchdown was the result of a muffed punt from Oakdale recovered by Jackson Pellizzari. Quarterback Anthony Morales punched in it with a 3-yard run. He finished 12 of 17 for 101 yards and two interceptions, while rushing four times for 42 yards. Blake Mount contributed seven receptions for 79 yards.

Defensively, Julian Perez amassed eight tackles, while Brandyn Sena and Keenan Yang each had seven. Damond Cunningham had six tackles and forced a fumble that was recovered by Jaden Gallego.
