MODESTO – Krys Charles returned a kickoff for a Manteca touchdown, threw for two scores and directed the Buffaloes offense to a 40-14 win over Central Catholic to open the Valley Oak League junior varsity campaign.

 Charles returned the second-half kickoff (4 of 7 passing, 141 yards) 76 yards to a score and had touchdown passes of 79 yards to Aidan Nicolas and 35 yards to Alejandro Tornero. The scoring throw to Nicolas came on the last play of the first half.

 Nicolas (15 carries, 113 yards) had a 26-yard touchdown run and Calvin Ramsey scored on a 2-yard run.

 Richie Garcia made six tackles for the Buffaloes. Jose Rios added four stops and Kai Begonia (interception) three.

 

Oakdale 28, East Union 7

Fumbles were costly for the Lancers as they put the ball on the ground five times and lost it three times.

 Anthony Corrales (nine carries, 43 yards) had the lone touchdown for East Union on a 2-yard touchdown run. Jesus Gomez was 8 of 16 passing for 103 yards for the Lancers.

 Jonathan Castenada led East Union with 12 tackles and a forced fumble. Frank Alvarez and Kaleb Bernardin added seven stops each.

MODESTO – Rogelio Ruvalcava threw for three touchdowns in the non-league tilt.

Ruvalcava was 11 of 15 for 215 yards with touchdown throws of 2 and 15 yards to Fidel Pitts (7 receptions, 105 yards) and another of 15 yards to Zion Thomas.
