Lancers slide continues with overtime loss

TRACY —East Union came close to notching its first Valley Oak League win on Friday.

Instead, the Lancers (0-5 in Valley Oak League play, 3-5 overall) fell to host Kimball in overtime, 20-19.

“We played hard, fought hard and controlled the line of scrimmage,” said coach Willie Herrera of his team’s efforts.

In particular, he liked the overall play from his group.

Tied 13-13 overall, the Lancers scored first in the extra session with quarterback Jack Weaver hitting Austin Miller on a 9-yard toss.

East Union missed the extra point kick but led 19-13.

The Jaguars came back, tying the game on a 1-yard touchdown run. They scored the game-winner by converting the PAT kick in that extra session.

East Union had a chance to win it soon after but missed the field goal try.

The Lancers trailed early on, scoring twice in the second quarter to claim a 13-6 lead.

Weaver hit Miller on a 24-yard scoring strike and scored on a 6-yard run.

Kimball tied the game in the third force an eventual overtime.

Weaver completed 6 of 11 passes for 69 yards and two TDs.

Running back Marcus Panelo racked up 155 yards on 20 pops.

Miller caught three passes for 42 yards and two TDs.
