LATHROP — The Lathrop High Spartans have been in search of consistency throughout this season.
They didn't have it against the visiting Los Banos on Friday. The Tigers, who are among the top teams in the Western Athletic Conference, pounded Lathrop, 50-6.
"There's times when everything is working," said Spartans coach Joe Pirillo. "And then something will happen."
The Tigers (5-1 WAC, 5-4 overall) scored twice early on, recovering a fumble at the Spartans 13, leading to Justin Incapara's 6-yard run.
Defensive lineman William Hernandez came up with the loose ball on Lathrop's second possession of the game.
Los Banos made it 14-0 later in the first quarter when quarterback Colby Copp went deep, connecting with Landon Ramos on a 65-yard scoring bomb.
Incapara then broke loose for a 54-yard pickup, coughing up the ball only to have a teammate pounce on it at Spartans 1.
Copp took it in from there, helping his team to a 21-0 advantage.
Lathrop's best showing offensively came in the second quarter.
Mark Ramones scooted 39 yards to the Los Banos 3, punching it in from there moments later.
The Spartans (1-5, 1-8) also featured a few big plays on defense, including a sack by Andre Prieto and an interception by Jordan Denning.
But it was too much Tigers.
Incapara had a big game, racking up 207 yards on 15 carries, tacking on scoring runs of 3-, 39-, and 36- yards.
Ramos hauled in four catches for 152 yards, including a 53-yard touchdown shortly before halftime.
Copp completed 6 of his 11 passes for 170 yards and a pair of TDs.
Ramones led Lathrop with 86 yards on 16 carries. Anthony Hirsch Jr. chipped in with 32 yards on eight pops while while entering the game midway through the second half.
Spartan receiver Joey Sanchis hauled in five passes for 74 yards. Jason Seabron Jr. had four catches for 52 yards.
Pirillo is hoping his team will put together a consistent effort next week in the season finale against Mountain House.
Lathrop, in addition, will be recognizing its seniors.
