Mariposa mounts late rally to topple Knights

RIPON — Ripon Christian High looked good early on against visiting Mariposa Friday.
The Grizzlies needed a fourth-quarter rally to get past the Knights in this Southern League showdown, 28-14.
Both teams had identical 1-3 league records, 2-5 overall.
RC (1-4, 2-6) looked poised early on, with running back Michael Kamps scoring a pair of first quarter touchdowns.
The first came on a 4-yard run, with Jadon Vander Molen kicking the first of his PATs.
Kamps then caught a 19-yard TD pass from Willem Hoekstra, providing his team with a 14-0 advantage.
Early in the second quarter, Mariposa (2-3, 3-5) cut the lead in half with a touchdown pass.
RC saw its 14-7 lead slip away in the fourth quarter.
Josh Land scored twice during the Grizzlies 21-0 run.
The Knights will travel to Le Grand next week.
