Peterson paces Sierra in frosh win over Lathrop

Jacob Peterson scored two touchdowns for the Sierra freshmen in a 20-6 win over visiting Lathrop on Thursday in Valley Oak League action at Daniel Teicheira Memorial Stadium.

Peterson got the Timberwolves on the board in the second quarter when he hauled in a pass from Caden Worth (6 of 8 passing, 135 yards) and raced 72 yards for a 6-0 lead. In the third period Peterson plunged in from the 4-yard line to put Sierra ahead 12-0. The defense sealed the win in early in the final period when Carson Anderson blocked a Spartans punt in the end zone and Pablo Salcedo fell on the loose ball for a touchdown. 

Midway through the fourth quarter Michael Ramos (eight carries, 92 yards) got Lathrop on the board with a punishing 64-yard run for the final score of 20-6.

Peterson and Salcedo each had an interception. Teammates David Reyes, Daemon Duran and Jacob Peterson had four tackles apiece. For the Spartans Ian Lum recovered a fumble.


Oakdale 12, Manteca 8

The Buffaloes had an 8-0 lead at halftime.

Manteca’s Kyle Rachels was 7 of 16 passing for 83 yards. Matthew Ender had 48 yards on four catches and Rachels connected with Presley Keltner on a 10-yard pass for the first-half Buffaloes touchdown. Cameron Allison had 41 yards on 13 carries.

Ferrin Manuleleua had 12 tackles and Justin Kakala six for Manteca. 


Central Catholic 56, East Union 0

Kenny Wilkins had nearly 100 combined yards for the Lancers, going 4 of 7 passing for 62 yards with 30 yards rushing.

Taylor McIntyre led the East Union receivers with two catches for 55 yards.


Trans-Valley League

Ripon 42, Hilmar 0

Six Indians scored one touchdown apiece in an offensive display that racked up 419 total yards.

Dylan Sexton scored on a 20-yard run, Nathan Morrow from 16 yards out, Nick Myers on a 25-yard run,  Donovan Fortillas from 10 yards out, Sid Gall on a 61-yard run and Donnie Cooksey pulled in an 11-yard scoring pass from Michael Winters.
