Ripon frosh holds River Islands to 21 yards in shutout

Gavin Decena had a monster third quarter for host Ripon on Thursday and the Indians defense limited River Islands to just 21 yards of total offense in a 34-0 Ripon win in non-league freshman football action at Stouffer Field.

Decena (seven carries, 105 yards) scored on touchdown runs of 12, 33 and 60 yards – all in the third period – as well as making an interception in the quarter. Anthony Alves started the Indians scoring with a 1-yard first-quarter scoring plunge and Kaeo Sanchez (nine carries, 40 yards) added a fourth-quarter five-yard scoring run. Marco Arroyo added 32 yards on four carries.

The Ripon defense was suffocating, limiting the Riptide to just 8 yards after three quarters and ngative-48 yards rushing. Kaeo Sanchez led the Indians defense with seven tackles – all for a loss. Xabriel Reyes made an interception with Jaden Beccerra, Mason Buck, Manny Ochoa, Luiz Ruiz and Reyes all making multiple tackles.

River Islands’ Idrees ElFarra threw for 40 yards in the first half before leaving the game due to injury. Michael Figueroa came on in the second half and added 29 passing yards. Jayden Young had two receptions for 29 yards.

 

Manteca 27, Rocklin 6

David Grisham scored a pair of touchdowns for the Buffaloes in a rare Friday game.

Grisham (21 carries, 158 yards) scored on 1- and 34-yard runs. Daryl Carpenter (3 for 5 passing, 60 yards) hit Jayden Harris with a 45-yard touchdown pass and Josiah Martinez added a 1-yard scoring plunge.

Christian Jimenez paced the Manteca defense with six tackles. Dean Sortonis added five stops with three each for Lucas Ruiz, David Grisham and Madden Melendez. Jaylin Harris made an interception.

The Thunder snuck in a score on a fourth-quarter 84-yard touchdown pass due to a blown coverage. These were the first points given up by the Buffaloes this season.

 

Sierra 57, Pacheco 8

Isaac Kempf tallied five touchdowns for the Timberwolves.

Kempf was 5 of 7 passing for 62 yards with two passing touchdowns along with eight carries for 80 yards and two rushing touchdowns. He also returned an interception 60 yards for a score.

Sierra’s Nate Soto carried the ball six times for 98 yards. Kian Mejia and Jimmy Burns each made a touchdown catch and Marcus Zeiher had a touchdown run.

Jaed Alcauter posted six tackles for the Timberwolves and Damian Salazar added four stops. Alberto Cervantes made two interceptions and Kian Mejia one.
