The Sierra High sophomore football team did just about everything right in a 44-8 Valley Oak League blowout win over Lathrop on Friday.

The Timberwolves got three touchdown receptions from Hunter Johnson and a pair of touchdown runs from John Cebelli-Sanford. Teammate Devin Nunez also got in the mix with a scoring run as well.

Sierra’s Marissa LaQuaglia was a perfect 6-for-6 on PATs.

Both Johnson and Cebelli-Sanford were joined by Sean Murray and Trey McCrey with productive defensive efforts.

The Timberwolves will try and close out the VOL campaign with a victory over the Weston Ranch Cougars.

Sierra 31, Lathrop 6

Lathrop opened with a 6-0 first quarter lead, but that would be all for the Spartans in a 31-6 lopsided victory by Sierra over the Spartans Thursday.

The two teams’ VOL action saw Sierra roll off 15 unanswered points in the second quarter and never looking back.

Brian Terrell had touchdown returns on a punt and an interception to pace Sierra. The interception was raced back 42-yards, while the punt return was 80.

Teammate Nick Oseguera lead the Sierra ground game with 106 yards rushing on 16 carries. He also scored on a carry as well.

The Timberwolves are currently attempting to fill the final vacancy on their 2012 schedule because the Weston Ranch Cougars do not have a freshman squad.
