Anthony Cota got the Sierra offense clicking in the first quarter and the Timberwolves never slowed down, blasting the Kimball Jaguars 58-20 in Valley Oak League action Friday in Tracy.

Sierra (2-2 VOL, 3-4 overall) got a rejuvenating four-touchdown performance from Cota, as the sophomore playmaker scored on runs of 5, 11, 10 and 19 for Sierra in the blowout.

The Timberwolves held a comfortable 37-14 lead going into halftime, and were able to empty the bench against the first-year VOL Jaguars. Sierra’s Stephen Thayer opened the second half by returning the kickoff 86 yards for a touchdown. Thayer also got on the scoreboard with a safety at the end of the second quarter.

Cota finished the contest with over 160-yards rushing on just 11 carries, giving himself some momentum as the Timberwolves prepare to play host to the Sonora Wildcats Friday.

Sonora is coming off a lopsided loss at the hands of the Manteca Buffaloes, and will look to stop its one-game losing streak before Sierra can make it two.

Sierra senior John Waggy converted on each of the Timberwolves’ PAT, making eight of eight chances to pace the special teams.
