Lathrop High opens VOL play with win

R.J. Tisdell racked up nearly 150 all-purpose yards to lead the Lathrop sophomores to a 36-0 win over host Weston Ranch to open the Valley Oak League campaign on Friday.

 Tisdell was 3 of 4 passing for 77 yards and had seven carries for 77 yards. Tremayne Willis gained 87 yards on 14 carries with two touchdowns and Christian Allamby (six tackles) scored one touchdown, gaining eight carries for 45 yards. Anthony Santos added another touchdown for the Spartans as did Idowu Olalege.

 Josh Harper (eight tackles) picked up 138 yards on two punt returns for the Cougars, but Weston Ranch was unable to capitalize on his returns. James Walker (seven tackles) added 47 yards on seven carries.

 Charles Jemison led the added six tackles and an interception for the Cougars. Malik Vegatatum, Jayelon Torres, Nick Patterson, De’Jon Chambers and Damien Gonzalez had five tackles with Jeremiah Holman, Xavier Rivers and Felix Pitts adding four stops.

 

Central Catholic 27,

Manteca 22.

 The Raiders scored the winning touchdown with 29 seconds remaining to cap off a back-and-forth contest.

 The Buffaloes led 14-7 at halftime. Central Catholic returned the second-half kickoff back for a touchdown and followed that with an interception return for a touchdown to go ahead 21-14. Manteca answered back with a touchdown followed by a two-point conversion to take a 22-21 lead.

Jose Garcia had had four catches for 125 yards with a 42-yard touchdown reception from Gerson Gomez on a wingback pass. Geno Campiatti threw for 146 and had a 1-yard rushing touchdown. James Thomas added a 2-yard touchdown run.

 

Oakdale 21 East Union 7

The Mustangs scored late in the first half to take a 7-0 halftime lead but mistakes kept the Lancers from getting back in the game.

 

Jake Harries was 6 of 10 passing for 67 yards for East Union and had seven carries for 54 yards with a 2-yard touchdown run. Harries also made six tackles and an interception.

 Joe Reynaga had 13 tackles for the Lancers followed by Martin Garcia with 11 and Isaiah Cormier with eight

 

Kimball 22 Sierra 0

The Timberwolves offense could get no traction the pouring rain at Don Nicholson Stadium.

 Brandon Arreola and Mark Vicente played well for the Sierra defense.

 

Southern League

Orestimba 41, Ripon Christian 28.

Zach Cortwright scored three touchdowns for the Knights.

 Cortwright had 11 carries for 138 yards with two rushing touchdowns and caught a 64-yard scoring pass from Will Hoekstra (four carries, 25 yards) who also had a rushing touchdown.

 Jake Beukelman led the Ripon Christian defense with 17 Tackles followed by Ty Beidleman, Zach Cortwright, and Dominic Darretta with nine apiece and Brandon Vrieling made an interception.
