R.J. Tisdell ground out 106 yards on 10 carries with a 45-yard touchdown run to help lead Lathrop to a 24-13 win over host East Union on Friday in sophomore Valley Oak League action at Dino Cunial Field.
Tremayne Willis added a pair of touchdowns for the Spartans on a 3-yard run and a 65-yard pass from Idowu Olalege.
Isaiah Sholund and Jake Harries were the workhorses for the Lancers offense as were Ruben Gallegos, Anthony Cook and Jaysen Reindel and Anthony Cook on defense. Harries hit Sholund with a 33-yard pass in the second quarter to set up a 3-yard touchdown run by Sholund to draw East Union within 10-7.
In the fourth quarter the Lancers used big plays from Anthony Cook on a 25-yard run and a 41-yard pass from Harries to Sholund on a scoring drive that ended on a 7-yard touchdown run by Sholund.
Sholund recovered the ensuing onside kick but time ran out with East Union on the Lathrop 3-yard line.
Manteca 26, Kimball 12
The Jaguars did not score their second touchdown until late in the game to make the game seem closer than it was.
A 52-yard second-quarter touchdown pass for the Buffaloes from Gino Campiatti to James Thomas was set up when Manteca stuffed a fake field-goal attempt.
Devyn Gonzalez had 72 yards on 14 carries for Manteca. Cameron Beamon added 63 yards on 14 carries with a touchdown and Jose Garcia had five catches for 96 yards with a 38-yard touchdown pass from Gerson Gomez on a double pass. Campiatti was 6 for 7 for 125 yards with his touchdown pass to Thomas and a touchdown on a 1-yard plunge.
Oakdale 36, Sierra 14
Brandon Arreola scored touchdown runs of 30 and 70 yards for the Timberwolves.
Quarterback Mark Vicente and center Jeremy Parente did a good job for the Sierra offense and Brandon Arreola, Jessie Baubuta and Dilpreet Singh led the Timberwolves defense.
