The final outcome was the same, but the rematch was more decisive.

Manteca again toppled third-place Oakdale by an 8-1 score on Thursday but played with better focus and efficiency. They previously squared off in Oakdale on March 16, the Monday after spring break. The Buffaloes are now 11-0 in the Valley Oak League with three to go.

“The boys were all business today against Oakdale after the last match was a tough one,” assistant coach Beto Lopez-Ellis said.

This one was a quick one.

Yok Jing Ma (6-0, 6-2), Michael Lopez (6-0, 6-0), Nolan Osborn (6-3, 6-0) and Kyle Thornburg (6-0, 6-0) turned in dominant singles efforts. Spencer Jackson warded off Shane Baxter 6-2, 7-5 in the No. 6 match. The lone loss came at No. 3, where Gino Mercado was defeated by Octavio Padilla, 6-7 (5-7), 3-6. Mercado won a three-set match in their first meeting.

The No. 1 doubles team of Yok Eyh Ma and Si Hao Tang exacted revenge with their 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 victory over Mikey Baskid and Devin Odom. Edvin Pepic and Dhillon Patel cruised 6-0, 6-2. Yahya Shabbar and Matt Pabla won the third doubles match, 6-2, 6-3.



Sierra 5, Lathrop 4

The Timberwolves (4-7) won all three doubles matches to get over the hump.

Winning doubles matches were Allen Len/Elijah Jacobson (6-3, 6-1), Mathew Len/Zach Gosney (6-3, 6-1) and Amalio Durazo/Jonathan Hernandez (6-2, 6-3).

Laic Beugre gave Sierra a huge lift at No. 2 singles, coming back to defeat Ondrej Noga, 0-6, 6-0, 6-1. Lathrop’s Chris Consul won the No. 1 singles contest 6-0, 6-2 against Adam Searle. Albert Hoang (6-4, 6-3), Navinder Dhinosa (4-6, 7-6 [7-4], 6-3) and Ben Hoang (7-5, 6-3) grinded out points for the Spartans.



East Union 7,
Weston Ranch 2

It was well-contested from top to bottom.

Andrew Rosette (6-4, 7-5), Kyle Niendorf (6-4, 6-3), Jake Kramer (7-6, 1-6, 6-4) and Carlos Campos (2-6, 6-3, 6-2) overcame game opponents to give East Union singles points. The Lancers swept at doubles with wins coming from Sham Aulakh/Gerardo Romero (6-4, 6-2), Jose Sanchez/Raul Duenas (7-5, 7-6 [7-5]) and Hector Romero/Gerry George (4-6, 6-4, 6-4).

Weston Ranch No. 2 player Jaspinder Grewal edged Kevin Flores 4-6, 6-4, 10-7. Michael Cervantes posted the Cougars’ other win at No. 4 singles, 6-3, 4-6, 6-0.
