The Valley Oak League’s top girls swim team was well represented in the Sac-Joaquin Section Girls Trials Thursday at Tokay High in Lodi.
Ripon has six returning to Saturday’s finals. Varsity competitor Hannah Sweet advances in the 500 freestyle after turning in the 14th best time.
The Lady Indians’ frosh-soph standouts also shined. Elizabeth Wenner advances in four events after placing ninth in the 50 free and 11th in the 100 back stroke. She’s also part of the sixth-place 200 free relay and seventh-place 200 medley relay. Mallory Brubaker (ninth, 500 free; 11th, 200 free) joins her on the 200 free relay. Andria Martin (100 back alternate) and Chloe Winter are members of both relays. Kyra Foley competes with the 200 medley team.
Sierra’s varsity relay team of Gwyneth Berry, Vanessa Flores, Natalie Jamero and Natalie Randolph improved its time by 7 seconds and is the second alternate in its event. Ashlea Green and Manteca’s Alyssa Trejo also qualified for Thursday’s Trials.
Up next is the boys trials today starting at 10 a.m. The finals take place Saturday.
