Area grapplers advance to day 2 of SJS D-V, girls tournaments

Seven Ripon boys wrestlers advanced to the second day of the Sac-Joaquin Section Division V wrestling championships on Friday at Calaveras High School in San Andreas.

Gurnoor Singh (113 pounds), David Banales (120), Austin Barros (132), Ace Dougherty (138), Jacob Hughes (215) and Joaquin Rodriguez (285) are wrestling in today’s semifinals and Lorenzo Hernandez (175) is in the consolation bracket.


Central Regional girls

Manteca High’s Liliana Rios (235) is the lone Manteca-area wrestler to make it to today’s semifinals at Tokay High in Lodi.

Alisha James (110), Isabella Castillo (115), Susan Joseph (125), Elsie Wanjiru (135), Ashley Arzate (140), Maya Fifita (155) and Mandy Martinez (170) are the Buffaloes still alive in the consolation bracket.

East Union’s Abygale Knowles (110), Evelynn Ramirez (120) and Sierra’s Ashley De Bellen (120), Itzanamy Fierro (130) and Ninah Limchoa (140) are in the consolation bracket.


South Regional girls

Lathrop’s Kiana Quintero (120) and Ripon’s Shaylin Potter (155) advanced to today’s semifinals at Central Valley High in Ceres.

Timothea Maycon (105), Kimberly Slalzar-Torres (140), Aniya Gonzalez (170) and Laila Hill (235) are the Indians grapplers in the consolation bracket as are Indians Trinty Diaz (110), Jeevika Chaudhary (170) and Amaya Watkins (190).
