Baby Buffs coast to victory

ESCALON — Fresh off winning its own Block M Tournament, the Manteca High sophomore boys basketball team ended its non-league schedule with a resounding 71-50 victory over host Escalon.

Jahan Petiford fired in 15 points to lead the Buffaloes (10-2), who also got 14 from Eric Godfrey and 12 from Taylor Hasal.

Weston Ranch 50, Franklin 38

In Stockton Tuesday, Jesus Fuentes scored 16 points while ripping down 10 rebounds to lead the Cougars. Lorenzo Simmons added 14 points.

“We had starters out, but James Aragon Jerome Arevalo and Steffon Mackey did a very good job of filling in,” Weston Ranch coach Eddie Menzel said.

Armijo 27, East Union 26

At Dalben Center, the Squires (6-3) made a game of it at the end despite a bad start.

Morgan Hulsebosch spearheaded East Union with eight points, Breanne Fontenot had six and Milliscent Puahi-Ulangca finished with five.

“We played like it was Christmas vacation,” East Union coach Adrian McDaniel said.

At Winter Gym, Mia Ramirez churned out 15 points to lead the host Buffaloes (6-4) to victory. Kayla Godfrey contributed 10 points, and Jessica Reeder turned in eight.
