East Union’s baseball team busted out of a tied ballgame in the seventh inning and held on for a 7-6 win at Gregori.

It was tied 3-3 after six innings when the Lancers (3-0) plated four in the top of the seventh. Relief pitcher Dylan Lee bailed them out of a jam in the bottom half, as the Jaguars (6-2) of Modesto left runners in scoring position.

A.J. Vazquez pitched two-plus innings in relief and was charged with four of Gregori’s runs (three earned). Starter Zach Grabowski struck out four and gave up a hit and four walks in four innings.

Vazquez contributed to the offense with a double and two RBIs. Noah Calmes was 2 for 3 with two runs, two steals, a double and an RBI. Ace Avelar and Brandon Garcia contributed two RBIS apiece. Avelar also swiped three bags.

East Union starts a two-game series with Tokay of Lodi next Tuesday at home.
