BASKETBALL: Lathrop, Ripon, RC boys stay unbeaten in league

Lathrop used scoring balance to overcome to Johansen players who combine for 46 points, rolling to a 76-65 triumph to stay perfect in Western Athletic Conference play.

Trailing 32-31 at halftime, the Spartans (5-0, 8-8 overall) went off for 29 points in the third quarter to break it open.

Camryn Hayes drained three of their seven 3-points, finishing with 17 points. Samuel Stewart contributed 12 points, Jaelin Butler had 11 and Izaias White turned in 10.

 

Ripon 69, Hughson 51

The visiting Indians (4-0 Trans-Valley League, 7-11 overall) broke away after leading by a 16-13 margin in the first quarter.

Bronson Burrow anchored them with 17 points and eight rebounds, Nolan Young registered 16 points, seven boards, five steals and two blocks. Logan Gillespie chipped in with 11 points.

Ripon faces WAC contender Los Banos (11-3) for a non-league slate next Monday at home starting at 6.

 

Ripon Christian 89, Hilmar 46

It was all Knights (2-0 TVL, 10-6 overall) at Strom Gym on Friday. They scored the first 12 points of the game and held Hilmar (0-3, 7-12) to single digits in each of the first two quarters, staking a 47-17 halftime lead.

Eli Terpsma had the hot hand, finishing with 22 points and four 3s. Thys Vander Hoek amassed 16 points and 12 rebounds. Isaac Bos and Deren Van Eldered turned in nine points apiece. Ripon Christian made 11 3s in all.
