BOYS SOCCER: Villaseñor powers Sierra past Jags

Miguel Villaseñor played a part in every scoring play for Sierra’s boys soccer team on Thursday, and the Timberwolves notched a needed 4-2 win that keeps them in the running for the Valley Oak League title.
Sierra (5-2, 8-6 overall) and East Union are two games back of league-leading Weston Ranch, which managed to further distance itself from second place despite not playing Thursday thanks to Oakdale’s 3-1 upset of East Union.
Sierra had many chances to break it wide open against Kimball (0-7-1, 4-10-2). Villaseñor finished with a hat trick and assisted Tristan Gonzalez’s goal. Alex Cervantes and Juan Lara each had an assist.
The T’wolves host Oakdale next Tuesday.

Manteca 3 Central Catholic 2

The Buffaloes (1-5-2) picked up their first VOL win of the season behind goals from Alexis Lopez, Alejandro Marin and Ezekiel Van Staaveren.
Richard Parra filled in well in the goal box for Manteca, which had its top two keepers out for the contest.

Oakdale 3, East Union 1
OAKDALE — Jonathan Ponce got the deflection on Christian Tapia’s corner kick for East Union’s lone goal, but the Lancers (5-2, 13-5-2) still trailed going into halftime, 2-1.
Oakdale (4-3-1, 4-6-1) got its insurance goal in stoppage time. Dylan French scored twice, and Joel Gonzalez had two assists.
East Union hosts Weston Ranch on Thursday, Jan. 24.

Orestimba 6, Ripon Christian 0
RIPON — John Van Vliet came up with 12 saves for Ripon Christian (0-5-1, 1-11-1 overall) in the Southern Athletic League match.

OAKDALE — Down by two goals, East Union (7-0) scored three unanswered in the battle between the VOL’s top two sides.
Erick Miramontes, Ivan Chavez and Omar Silva netted the Lancers’ goals.
