East Union’s boys golf team teed off its promising 2012 season with a 202-215 win over Ripon Wednesday at Manteca Park Golf Course. The nonleague match pitted two of the area’s top teams.

Will Brink turned in a 36 for medalist honors. Jordan Duval finished even on the par-37 front nine, and Eric Lewis carded the round’s fourth best score with a 41. Kyle Davis, Evan Lewis and Jordan Lund each had a 44 for the Lancers.

Ripon (1-1) improved its score from Tuesday’s match with Manteca at the same course, shooting 15 strokes better with two of its best players still not with the team.

Cole Bagdasarian led the Indians with a 39 and was followed by Zach Capel’s 42, Nick Mendonca’s 43, Robby Fiegeriod’s 46 and Nick Sharp’s 46.

Ripon continues its busy week today with its Trans-Valley League opening match at Stevinson Ranch against host Hilmar.
