Manteca High’s girls soccer team coasted into the semifinal round of its own Buffalo Cup tournament with Friday’s 8-0 rout of Riverbank.

It was another big outburst by Manteca’s offense, which produced 16 goals in a nonleague shutout of Delhi just two days prior. Manteca outshot the Bruins (1-3), 28-1. The Buffaloes (4-0) take on Bret Harte starting 8:30 this morning at Guss Schmiedt Field.

“I thought we did a real good job,” Manteca coach Justin Coenenberg said. “One thing we worked on was movement in the offensive third and being more dynamic. We were able to try out some new things and it looked really good. We’re just trying to build off each game, have a different focus and look to improve.”

Freshman Natalia Duran fired two goals and an assist to lead the onslaught Friday. Leah Manuleleua scored both of her goals in the first half to help the Buffs take a 3-0 halftime lead. Stephanie Duran assisted the first two goals.

Ivy Benson and Fechi Nkwocha each finished with a goal and an assist. Harleen Pabla and Jocelyn Reyes put away one unassisted goal apiece in the second half.

Valley Oak League rival Oakdale tangles with Colfax in the other semifinal at 10 a.m. The winners vie for the championship at 1:30 p.m., while the losers square off for third place at noon. In the consolation bracket, Riverbank takes on Foothill starting 8:30 at the practice field, while Franklin and Atwater meet at 10.
