Manteca’s girls tennis team remains perfect in the Valley Oak League following a dominant effort against host East Union on Thursday.
It was a quick visit for the Buffaloes, who won 9-0 while losing just two games. Manteca (4-0 VOL, 6-1 overall) has two more road matches next week, against Lathrop and Kimball, before welcoming co-leading Oakdale on Sept. 26.
East Union’s Isabel Moreno avoided a shutout at No. 2 singles in her 1-6, 0-6 loss to Koryn Menasco. The Lancers’ No. 2 doubles team of Sarah Cohoon and Nadia Cardona lost to Julianne Eavenson and Kaileah Johannson 0-6, 1-6.
Julia Tang, Taylor Corona, Makenna Condit, Sahiba Kaur and Stephanie Mercado all rolled to 6-0, 6-0 sweeps. No. 1 doubles partners Ravneet Dhillon and Navina Mann and No. 3 Noeli Marcado and Melissa Poncini also scored shutouts.

STOCKTON — The No. 3 singles match was the most competitive, with Sierra’s Melanie Nguyen outlasting Justice Stitt, 6-3, 6-2.
Kaitlyn Rausa (6-1, 6-0), Nadia Petrovic (6-1, 6-1), Ellie Kim (6-0, 6-0), Sydney Huynh (6-0, 6-0) and Natlie Rootsaert (6-0, 6-2) dominated in singles play.
Doubles winners were Alyssa Patterson/Amaya Baluyut (6-1, 6-2), Dianna Duenas/Joyce Sebastian (6-1, 6-0) and Seerit Gill/Mikayla Coburn (6-0, 6-2).
Oakdale 8, Lathrop 1
Bernice Vilches accounted for Lathrop’s only point with a 2-6, 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles at Manteca Regional Tennis Center.
Angela Alegado challenged Oakdale No. 1 Lijian Bucad but dropped a 5-7, 2-6 decision. Kim Victoria threatened to force a third set in the No. 3 singles match but fell short 1-6, 6-7 against Mackenzie Brown.
