Jorge Cedano leads Manteca with 24 points

MODESTO – Jorge Cedano powered in 24 points to lead Manteca to a 72-56 win over Immanuel of Reedley for fifth place in the Mark Gallo Invitational at Central Catholic High School. 

 The Buffaloes (7-1) led 46-44 after three quarters before pulling away for the win. Cedano added eight rebounds and seven assists and earned all-tournament honors. Domonick Victor chipped in 16 points for Manteca and Rashawn Ballard added eight.

 

Christian Brothers of Sacramento 65, Ripon 58

 The turnover bug bit the Indians (3-7) again with their third close loss of the tournament.

 “Every game in the tournament has been close,” Ripon coach Justin Graham said. “We just find a way not to finish the game by missing shots and committing turnovers.”

 Troy Brogan led the Indians with 16 points and eight rebounds. Nico Ilardi added 10 points and Nicolas Olmo made nine points and pulled down 11 rebounds.

 

West Holiday Classic

Lathrop 62, Edison of Stockton 58

 TRACY – The Spartans (7-4) got another bite at the apple Saturday, trailing for most of the game before taking a late lead and avenging a loss in their first game of the season to the Vikings (6-7) with a four-point win for the consolation championship at West High School.

 “It was a tough game,” Lathrop coach Craig Ward said. “We were happy to get revenge on the team that beat us first game of season.”

 The Spartans did not lead until there were 4 minutes left in the game and bumped their lead to 8 before Edison narrowed but did not eclipse the lead. 

 Lathrop’s Amiel Adams earned all-tournament honors and scored 21 points with nine assists and seven rebounds.  Noah Thiery added 11 points with C.J. Ward and Jaylen Bagby scoring 10 points each.

Cosumnes Oaks Running with the Pack Tournament

East Union 67, Calaveras of San Andreas 59

ELK GROVE – The Lancers (3-7) were outscored by 10 points in the fourth quarter in the third-place game at Cosumnes Oaks High School.  

Christian Cuevas led East Union with 23 points.

CERES – The Timberwolves (6-2) overcame a two-point second quarter and came back for the non-conference road win.

 Jordan Hayter led Sierra with 16 points followed by Natalie Dias with 12 and Inessa Villanueva with 10.

Bret Harte of Angels Camp 70, Ripon 46

 ANGELS CAMP – Ryan Lafebvre scored 21 points and Jack Manning chipped in 10 for the Indians in 10 in the championship loss.

Ripon 68, Calaveras of San Andreas 42

 Manning led the Indians to the semifinal victory Friday with 16 points and Dylan DeGraff added 15.

 Lafebvre scored 20 points and Manning 10 to start the tournament on Thursday

 BAKERSFIELD – The Broncos (8-1-2) remain the only team to beat the Timberwolves (12-2-1) this season, blanking Sierra in the tournament finale on Saturday. 

 Michaela Bitle posted five saves for the Timberwolves.

 Jadyn Shinn scored two goals for the Timberwolves and Nicole Martin notched an assist in the second-round contest.  

Bitle had six saves.

Wrestling

Mike Tamana Invitational

 MODESTO – Three Ripon wrestlers placed Saturday at Modesto Junior College.

 Andrew Huynh (113 pounds) finished fifth for the Indians. Colin Speed (220) was sixth and Marcos Mejia (126) was eighth.

 Manteca’s Joshua Craighead (182) finished sixth.
