CERES — The sledding was surprisingly easy for Manteca in a 4-1 win at Ceres Thursday afternoon.

Yassen Aniss fell, 3-6, 3-6, to Luis Ochoa, but the rest of the Buffaloes picked up wins.

Marc Leon battled to a 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 victory over Wilson Liang, and Alex McAdams was solid in a 6-2, 6-4 win.

“Marc’s match was weird,” Manteca head coach Frank Fontana said. “He controlled the first set then went crazy in the second. He got up 4-1 in the third, (Liang) tied it then Marc cruised.

Liang beat Leon previously is round-robin format.

Arnie Morales and Alex Barragan won 6-4, 6-0, and Kyle Morten and Max Angelo picked up a 6-0, 6-3 win.

“(McAdams) has been playing really well, and our doubles have been steam-rolling everybody,” Fontana said.

The Buffs (10-2 Valley Oak League) take on Sierra Tuesday and Sonora Thursday.

Oakdale 4, Sierra 1
Doug Marks battled but lost, and Kevin Rausa was outstanding in picking up Sierra’s lone point, a straight-sets win.

“Kevin played great,” Sierra head coach Arabella Whitlock said. “He has excelled this year. Doug is also playing well; I’m looking forward to seeing what they can do at the VOL Tournament.”

Sierra faces Manteca and East Union next week.

The VOL Tournament is May 5 and 7 at East Union.
